daily bubble #14 - other people's bubbles

It's not that I'm lazy, but I am terribly busy today with classwork (I teach) and that had to take priority over video editing (again, bah!). Therefore, for the Daily Bubble #14, I'm highlighting a guest bubble blower from YouTube. Her name is happyregina and this is really cute

the daily bubble #13 - kitchen bubbles

The Daily Bubble #13 was taken in my kitchen in Burlington VT. Self-recorded so it mostly cut my head off. I'm ok with that. I probably also should have cleaned the counter, but this is what you get in reality bubble-blowing. I had fun. (I've got to get out more.)

I do have more bubbles from other folks to edit, but I've got to correct my students' homework first. Duty before pleasure.... bah!

darkpark larry

Daily Bubble #12 brings us Larry Flynn of darkpark. He came over to visit and was happy to blow some bubbles. Want to hear his music? Go on over to his myspace page, listen and be his friend.

On a sad note, today was the first day someone said "no" when we asked them to participate in the daily bubble. I can't blame the guy. He was at work, in uniform and thought it wouldn't be such a good idea to blow bubbles on duty. He did say that he had a lot of bubble blowing experience with his grandkids. Anyway, it was sad. People in uniform should be allowed - no they should be encouraged - to blow bubbles. It's just good for morale.

Parkway Diner - South Burlington VT

Today we stopped by Parkway Diner in South Burlington VT for a late breakfast. Yummy french toast for me and a western omelet & homefries for Michael. Michael says the portion was generous and it was "masterfully cooked." Huge mugs of coffee. Fast service. We barely had time to plot for the bubble before our meals were served.

The folks at the Parkway were dressed for Mardi Gras - said they were practicing! Officially, Mardi Gras is on February 20th this year. And in Burlington, Vermont the official festivities are on the weekend of February 16th. Our waitress, who was beautifully festooned in feathers and beads, did an admirable job blowing some bubbles - and bounced one of them!

cats and bubbles - fun or torture?

you be the judge. Zoe was sleeping and awoke to bubbles. Perhaps she would have liked BubbleNip better. I'll have to get my hand on that some day.

church street marketplace

Daily Bubble #9 brings us to the Church Street Marketplace in chilly Burlington Vermont. I've got to admit that this one was actually taken a few days ago, when the wind chill wasn't below zero. However, it was fun, and there is a lovely single bubble sequence at the end. Oh, and happy Birthday to Carey Kalimba. Blow some bubbles along with your birthday candles. And send me pictures, or video to post here on the daily bubble.

the daily bubble #8 - Leonardo's Guy at Radio Deli

The Radio Deli is a great place to get willing participants in Bubble a Day. Here we have a deli visitor, a guy from Leonardo's Pizza next door. Enjoy. He did.

daily bubble is a week old today!

Celebrate! Blow off work and blow some bubbles. I did! You can too. You know you want to.

You'll see in this video that I've found another brand of bubble solution that I tried out. I actually found this bottle of bubbles with dust on it, stored away, forgotten. The horror!!! Don't ever let bubbles go to waste. Anyway, I got some very good results with this brand Mr. Bubbles (not to be confused with the bubble bath Mr. Bubble). Mr. Bubbles has a double wand! Double the fun. This bottle will last me awhile till I find more. Looking at the Mr. Bubbles website leads me to believe they have gallon sizes, but I can't find them anywhere online. Affordable bubbles for the masses, I say. If everyone blew bubbles, the country wouldn't be in such a sorry state.

city market bubbles

Outside of City Market in Burlington, on a chilly night, Michael blows bubbles. The guy at the bottle machine seems oblivious to the bubbles.

I experimented with various bubble solutions today and am sorry to say it mostly was a dismal failure. From research on the Internet, I tried various combinations of "Miracle" bubble solution, Karo syrup and dish soap. One solution worked really well in the kitchen, but was a bust (literally) outside. I've got to get some more Pustefix, as I'm running out. From what I can find, it's not available locally. One store I found it on online was last updated in 2004? Do I trust sending money there?? What I really want are little bottles that I can give to people. I saw them on the German Pustefix site, but alas they don't seem to be available in the United States.

bubble portraits

I went out on the deck and blew some bubbles in the daylight today. I'm having technical problems with the video, so I grabbed my still camera and took some stills of the bubbles in the snow. Very pretty. I added some music from Internet Archive and you can see the results below.

I tried out some cheap bubbles from the drugstore today. They are no match to the pustefix bubbles that my sister gave me for Christmas, and incidentally started me on this daily bubble thing. I scoured the stores in downtown Burlington yesterday and nobody had the pustefix. I need to find a supplier for pustefix bubbles in bulk. If you know of any, please let me know. I want to give bubbles away but I can't afford almost $2.00 a pop.
